Applications are now open for Founding Fellowship, Faculty of Science RCPA

 

Distinguished contributors to science in pathology are invited to apply in this first round of applications, due on 8 October 2010. Founding Fellowship will give recognition for significant contributions to science in pathology and an avenue to promote science in pathology through the College into the future. Founding Fellows will have access to College training, scientific and social activities, providing opportunities for continuing professional development, collaboration and networking. The Founding Fellows will form the basis of the new Faculty of Science and will have the opportunity to nominate and vote for the Faculty Committee at the inaugural Annual General Meeting to be held in March 2011 at the Pathology Update in Melbourne. The Application Package, which includes the criteria to be used by the First Faculty Committee in considering Applications for Founding Fellowship, as well as an Application Form and Guide for Applicants, can be accessed via the following link.

The Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia (RCPA) is responsible for the training and professional development of pathologists and for the promotion of the science and practice of Pathology.


Pathology is the study of the nature and causes of diseases.  It underpins every aspect of medicine, from monitoring of chronic  diseases, to genetic research, to the diagnosis of every detected cancer in the  world.

 

To become a pathologist the College accepts applications from registered medical practitioners with a minimum of one year's post graduate experience. Pathology training takes a minimum of five years. Training can be undertaken in one of nine disciplines.
